Holiday July 2003 Part 9
The next morning we got up pretty
early to find out that the showers
and toilets were closed.
Also it was not Jim Moni and me
that would be driving to the next gig,
but also the talented young piano player.
We were on the road at 9 and we stopped
before 10 to have a good breakfast.
After that, we first had a nice drive to Budapest,
went right through the town to the other end and
then on the road to the festival in the art valley.
It is called the Kapolcs festival.
First we stopped at this Mc. Donald's, because they|
shared the building with a good coffee house.

It was unbelievable so many sunflower fields we saw.
I don't think they use it in the Dreher beer.
It made my passengers very sleepy,
so I was just alone driving to the north.
So we arrived really nicely in time at the little
village where we should play. It is called; Öcs
It was hot again, but the water tasted real good.
Of course the rest of the band was not yet there,
so we had time to walk around a bit.

Were we played there was also a stand
of the record shop of Buda fono house.
I limited myself to buy only 2 nice cassettes.
On our next stop we bought some fresh baked,
in a stone stove, garlic bread with unions.
It tasted very good in this heat.
The whole village was turned into an artistic place.
Everywhere there were exhibitions and a couple
of stages for the live music. In the church was
also a big exhibition and I liked the wood sculptures.
This guy asked me to picture him when he saw
me taken pictures of the surrounding. I hope
for him that he will be one day a great
Hungarian star, discovered in the village Öcs.
The day program was some nice stuff for kids
and around 5 some nice dance performances
on the stage were Cosmik Debris with Jimmy
Carl Black will play in the evening.
They showed their legs and danced on loud music.
The next one was caved in but danced anyway.
Again there was not much arranged for food,
so when the band was building up I decided to
go to eat some more of the garlic bread, but to
my disappointment they were closed. I decided
to go to the one local bar and also little restaurant,
to eat some pizza. It was a wrong decision, because
of the heat and also because there were many hungry
people, it was prepared with bad meat, that made
me about 2 hours later terrible sick.
I was just taking some pictures of the first song
our band played when I felt it was not good.
I went to the car and laid down, while listening
again, to a great played concert of my friends.
The pictures I took were from a distance,
so you can hardly see anything.
Only 2 lamps were shining on the stage.
Around midnight Atilla found me still sick in my car.
The plan was that I would drive with Jimi and Moni,
through the night to Siegsdorf in Germany.
Atilla saw clearly that I was in no condition
to drive so far and started to find a solution.
After some phone calls he said that there was
a hotel, about 20 km. from here and he would
pay from his own pocket the rooms. It was a
great offer and I felt power enough to drive to there.
We were very lucky because in high season, close
to the Balaton lake and with this festival,
there was no place free at all.
But Atilla managed it, thanks again friend.
So we decided to do so and after
thanking each other for a long while we
drove to a city called Ajka to sleep.
The drive was slowly but safe and after
25 minutes we arrived in the hotel.
10 minutes later I was fast asleep.
The next morning I got up around 9 and
found Jimmy and Moni at breakfast.
I felt better and ate an omelet and then we
started the last part of our trip.
Jimmy showed me the way, but I have
no idea where to he points right there!
But around midday we arrived at the Hungarian border.
They only kept us waiting for 15 minutes, but on the
other side the people had to wait hours to get in.
