Holiday July 2003 part 8.

It is nearly the ending of this holiday.
I was once again at the flea market
and I bought my third accordion.
This one was so cheap that I could
not leave it in Budapest. I was with
Moni and Ildiko there and we had
lots of fun and we spent just little money.
This dog in the box, was not for sale.

Here you see Ildiko and Moni looking for
nice jewelry at a stand, while drinking coffee.

First I thought she was looking for food
in the garbage, but no, this is where she
kept all the stuff she was selling.

After the Market I went with Moni to the
Artotel to pick up Jimmy.
I walked around a little bit when I saw
this little garden in there.

Then again I went with them to my
secret but excellent lunch place in Buda.
And again we had a fine meal in a
perfect surrounding with nice people.

After the meal we went to Ildiko for a coffee.
I brought Jimmy to Pesti Est for another
rehearsal and made quickly some pictures.
Here they found a mask to fool around with.

Here you see Jim giving instructions to the band.

And here is Atilla with the horn section.

After the rehearsal I drove with Jim and Moni
to the Zappa bar to make some pictures.
This one is outside the bar.

And this one is inside the bar.
All the paintings inside are done
by Vojnitz Atilla, who is also leader
of the band Caustic Debris,
on which invitation Jimmy was here.

Jimmy and Moni had a nice room at the
Artotel in Buda with this view on
the famous Parliament building.

This night Jimmy and the band had to play
on the Sziget festival in the blues tent.
The last 2 days it had rain a lot and when
we arrived at the festival it was a big mud pool.
There are many stages on the island.
About 400 groups and artists perform in
this week there.
This is the big stage and Patti Smith was
playing on that, but it was to muddy to go close.

So we did the sound check and around 23.00 hr.
They opened the tent for the audience. It was full
in no time so I dimmed the lights and the band
went on stage to do their show.
I gave my camera to a good friend
but he was not used to it and so
we have no really good pictures of the show.
This is one of the best ones.

It was a great show and they played
nearly for 2 hours. Around 02.00 hr.
we left the island again and went to sleep.
Tomorrow we had to drive to Debrecen
for the next show and that is about
250 km. to the southeast.
In the morning I had time to show
Jimmy and Moni some parts of the town.
Here we are at the Synagogue.

After a nice lunch we left for the long
drive to Debrecen. Besides Jimmy and Moni,
we also took the drummer with us. He had
still a little hangover of the night before,
as you can see on this picture here.

Close to the city we passed this
strange graveyard.

The concert was in the open air
in the middle of the town.
We were pretty late but we saw
part of the previous group.

Again I did the light show that evening
and I gave my camera to the technician
of the show, but also he was not used
to this camera,I could not use any.
I made this one from a far distance.

This night we slept in a boarding school.
Not to bad but some small misunderstandings
happened before. No food the whole night and
after the show Jimmy was to tired so he went to bed.
I went with most of the band to route 66, a not
real Hungarian hamburger place, but they had
the fantastic Erdlanger weissen bier, and that was
good enough for me with my hamburger.
