Holiday July 2003 part 7.

I went also to the opening of a video
installation in a former state film house.
The installation were 3 video beamers, some
amplifiers and 3 dvd players.
On the screens you saw only the faces
of men and women.
Some of them told about their life.
After a while you could not understand
what they were telling, because they
lowered the speed of the audio.
I tried to make a picture of it
but it was a bit dark inside.

At the back side of the synagogue
is this monument.
It is from stone and metal.

This picture shows the entrance of
Gozsdu Udvar, a pub in a yard.
I was there before to see a Spanish
concert and there are about 7
buildings behind each other with
yards but only one is used as a pub.

This is the comedy theater and I
have not been inside yet, because
all the plays are in Hungarian language.

On the other side is the Ballet theater.
It is also a beautiful building.

In the evening I drove with a friend
to Petöfi Csarnok to see a concert.
On the way there I we passed the
famous Heroes square. It is very
big and on both side you have
a museum. I took it from the
car, while we were driving,
so you see only part of it.

In the hall I met this boy again,
which I had seen before on the
Kaláka festival. He plays in the
Bákói Fánfarok and they are
already here for the Sziget festival.

I came to see a band called;
Zerkula János és a Szigony Zenekar.
He is the greatest living traditional
musician from the Chymes region of
Transylvania and is joined here with
some of the best musicians and dancers
of the revival movement to present
pearls of the Chymes and Moldavian
Csángó traditions. I got that from
the flyer but it was beautiful to hear
and see these people play and dance.

After their concert I saw these 2 dancers
drinking a non traditional drink.

Then there was a big surprise. As an extra
the Bákói Fánfarok came on stage and
they played an excellent show.
I enjoyed it again like the first time
that I have seen them play.

After that Zerkula came back to play
simple folk music to dance on and
many people did. After they played
for more then half an hour, the
Bákói Fánfarok came back on stage
and the dancing went on and on.

Today I met my good friend Jimmy Carl Black.
He will play 3 shows inHungary with the band
Cosmik Debris. They rehearse in Pesti Est in
the cellar and here are some pictures.

Just an other one.

I left the rehearsal with Jimmy's wife Moni
and we drove up to the Citadella and took
again some pictures there.

Another view from the top.

After the rehearsals we met again in a restaurant.
We all had a good dinner and some good laughs.
Here are Jim and Moni.

And on this one you see beside me Atilla,
the leader of the band and some of
the other musicians.
