24th. Kaláka festival, Day 2 Friday 11-07-2003

In the morning I walked a little bit around
the campingside and after a swim in the pool
I felt refreshed and went to the festival.

It was much to early so I took some pictures from the surroundings.
It is really very beautiful there and I enjoyed the views from the tower.

And another nice view.

Everything was set ready for the concerts.

On the other stage downstairs a band was doing their
soundcheck. The band was called; Técsõi Banda.

After them was also the soundcheck for this band from
Ukraine called; Flare Beás Együttes.

On the upper stage their was a band playing with
young musicians. I don't know how their are called.
I liked their music and I'm glad to see that young
people still have interest in traditional and folk music.

There was of course many interest from radio and TV for
this festival. Here I caught Gryllus Dániel from Kaláka,
doing his saying about the festival.

The group Técsõi Banda played very fine traditional folk
music that I enjoyed from beginning until they stopped.

By that time my good friend Martin S. Past from the Netherlands
arrived with the band Troitsa on the festival. Martin is a musician,
writer, organizer and a fine person. At the moment he is busy
with a project that's called; In 80 questions around the world.
He drives a great truck with a lot of space in it and he just
came from Poland, where he picked up Troitsa to bring
them to the festival and to some more places later on.
More information you'll find on his website at this address.

Besides enjoying the music, you could eat, drink
and even shoot with a bow.

I had to try it and Martin took pictures of it,
but they are still on his computer.
This girl teaches me how to shoot.
She was pretty good and had an
unusual style to shoot.

Meanwhile slowly it became dark and after dinner
I saw a little bit of the band Republic. It was not
my style of music, but many young people enjoyed
their playing.

I was lucky while I had dinner that
the Bákói Fánfarok from Romania also were eating.
For some extra drinks and cigarettes they played
already a little bit. Here a solo for the catering boss.

So my next stop was their
performance at the Várszinpad stage.
I paid a short visit to the manager of Kaláka
and cd-shop owner, who made many hours
selling the fine music of all performing artists.

The Bákói Fánfarok played an amazing show
and all of the audience was moving on the
exiting rhythms of this fine group.

Of course there were some fine extra moments
for the youngest member of the band.

Later that night I was again lucky to sit with
them for more then an hour at their table.
We tried to communicate and often
they just took their instruments and
played some more of their music.
My camera was full, so no pictures of that.
It was for me nearly the end of a fine day.
A short walk back to the camping, another
nice glass of wine with some ladies and off
I was in the land of the dreaming.
