Virtuel writing on the electronic highway
is developing as quickly as the net itself.
That doesn't mean that you find superb writing in mass,
but that more people start writing is for sure.
In this article I will take you to the different
possibilitys which are offered on the electronic highway,
and specially what Internet has to offer.
Going through written talk boxes untill news and
discussion groups, electronic newspapers and magazins,
books, plays, experiments and databanks, I'll travel with
you around the world to find and create the written word.
At the moment you find about 5 dutch and more then
25 foreign magazins, dealing about different
Internet subjects,in the shops.
Half of these magazins are filled with advertising about
computers, modems, connections and books.
The other half is filled with storys and articles about
allmost everything, what is interesting for the
more rich computer owners.
To look at a video or be with a live music concert
at your computer is only possible with very modern
computers with expensive sound and videocards.
Also the better advanced monitors and specially
the memory supply rasing the price of your computer
and makes most magazins uninteresting for
simple computer system users.
Sex takes a big part in these storys, like the
06 phoneline bussiness, people get a lot of porno
inside their computer or they are looking for a date.
Well in short there's not much real written word.
On some sites you'll find a little bit of poetry and there
are 2 or 3 books on line with a status as a roman.
Articles and books about the Internet itself you'll find a lot,
but they are boring and difficult.
I haven't talk about study and work through the net.
Also the replacing of post and telephone and shopping
on the net, are possibillitys I gonna talk about.
At last I point you on the interactive possibilitys from the net.
You'll find them mostly in discussion or news groups.
But also a lot of newspapers and magazins
give you a change on feedback.
But is this interactive?
Can you change the paper or magazine?
Mostly or better totally not.
Like tv or radio, you have to accept what the programm
makers or better, the people with the money controll offers you.
I'll try to change that and will offer the reader
to express themselves and work on the contents.
